US approves sale of state-of-the-art Patriot missile to Kuwait
The United States has approved the sale of 84 state-of-the-art Patriot missiles to Kuwait.
Equipment for upgrading Kuwait's anti-missile system has also been approved, with the total cost of the program reported to be more than 1.42 billion.
The State Department says the Patriot missile and anti-missile system will benefit both countries, with the aim of providing political stability and economic development in the Middle East.
According to the State Department, with the help of a non-NATO ally to ensure foreign policy and US national security, the proposed sale would help Kuwait deal with threats and secure oil and natural gas reserves.
